ESL Reality #5 – Keeping your eyes peeled for the dog groomer [Como dizer “ficar de olho” em inglês]

Every week, a man comes by our house to pick up our dogs for grooming. My parents and brother and sisters and I are all neighbors, so when the "dog guy" comes, he takes a pack of dogs with him in his van! 🙂 Today was payday, and my sister was concerned about paying for her dog (Scott), so she wrote the following text message to all the family.

Lisa (text message): Hello, everyone! I have money to pay for Scott. I’ll keep my eyes peeled, but if someone else happens to get the dogs, just let me know; OK? Love you all.

Hi dear teacher,I didn’t understand what your sister says:

She wants to know If someone else happens to get the dogs or If someone else happens to pay for her dog?

In advance, thank you for the lesson
Carlos Augusto

Hey, Carlos! Thank you for your question. She wants to know if someone else happens to get the dogs, because whoever gets the dogs will have to pay for her dog – and she’ll settle [acertar] with them later.

Ok,it is clear now.

All the best,Carlos.
