Have you ever heard the story of Rip Van Winkle?
Rip Van Winkle is the main ________ in a story by the famous American author Washington Irving published in 1819.

In today’s story, I used the phrasal verb “sleep through something” when I said that Rip Van WInkle slept through the Revolutionary War . “Sleep through something” means to sleep while something big is happening and not be woken by the noise or the activity.

I had already taught you this phrasal verb before; do you remember?

Some time ago, I told you about the time a burglar jumped into our back yard. Our whole family got up and _______ ourselves ______ the main bedroom and called the police for them to come rescue us. There was a lot of noise and commotion, but my 6-year-old niece _______  __________ the whole ordeal.

So tell me about yourself. Tell me about a time you slept through something big. Maybe you slept through an interesting movie, or an important event, or a storm. I don’t know. Just tell me about it below. You can say something like this…
I slept through __(and here you can say what event you slept through)___ .
